Postino Village District in Raleigh, NC, has a story as rich and vibrant as the community it serves. Originally constructed in 1950 as a Wachovia bank, the building served as a cornerstone of the local banking industry for over three decades. After its time as a financial institution, the space transitioned into a hub for dining, with several restaurants calling it home. Among them, the Carolina Cafe stood out as a beloved neighborhood staple from 1995 onward. The enduring love and passion for preserving the building’s legacy are a true testament to its significance in the community.

The development surrounding the building also boasts a storied musical history. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, The Village Subway was a cornerstone of the underground punk and pop scene, hosting iconic acts like R.E.M., The Go-Go’s, Iggy Pop, and A Flock of Seagulls. To honor this vibrant past, we’ve commemorated the building’s musical heritage through an interior Artwall featuring vintage underground punk magazine covers and a striking building mural showcasing a spray-painted stencil of music acts in stop-motion animation.
